New 2017 RAM 2500 at Button Dodge for Kokomo, IN
The Laramie Longhorn, Limited, and Laramie trims acquire a standard 6.4-liter HEMI engine. On Limited 4x4 trims and the Laramie Longhorn, Bilstein monotube shocks are standard-- to reach the best-in-class ride experience and vehicle handling found by most owners. There is a completely new trim called the 'Power Wagon' for 2017, which takes noticeable design influences from the original "Power Wagon" from trim nearly 40 years ago! This influence is seen in its bumpers, interior, grille, graphics, and on its wheels. A '4x4 Off-road Package' is new this year (optional on 2500 Crew and Mega Cab 4x4) that brings onboard, among other things: wheel flares, on- or off-road tires (18-inch or available 20-inch), and a decal representing its off-road intentions. Five-micron air filters fastidiously clean out the cabin of dust and debris for all 2017 trims.
Under the 2500's Hood
The 2017 Ram 2500 has 2 choices for possible rear suspension systems, and a RAM 2500 can have either a rear 5-link coil spring-based system, or an air suspension system. The RAM 2500 can be a choice of two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive, but not all trims can be four-wheel drive. The best-in-class 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 gas engine comes standard, bringing 383 horsepower at 5,600 rpm, and 400 lb-ft of torque. This 5.7-L engine benefits from a variable-valve timing (VVT) and is available as a dual-fuel CNG -- with the same engine specs/output. There is an even larger 6.4-liter HEMI V-8 engine that also has been awarded a best-in-class title (gas version), that sees 410 horsepower (at 5,600 rpm) and 429 lb-ft of torque (at 4,000 rpm). It utilizes Fuel Saver Technology cylinder deactivation and VVT. If you need maximum towing capabilities, you can have the 6.7-liter Cummins Turbo Diesel engine (with six-speed automatic transmission), which has 370 horsepower and 800 lb-ft of torque. The RAM 2500 can tow at maximum up to 17,980 pounds when properly equipped and arranged. This 6.7-L engine we just discussed gets to 350 horsepower/660 lb-ft of torque if paired with a manual transmission because it allows the driver more control of the shift timing in general. The '4x4 Off-road Package' (available on 2500 Crew and Mega Cab 4x4) also has a transfer case skid plate, tow hooks, hill-descent control, a limited-slip differential, and Bilstein shocks.
Design of RAM 2500
The RamBox cargo management system and a tonneau cover are potential choices available on all trims (minus RAM 2500 trims with the CNG-engine). The Ram Heavy Duty line appears in 8 trims: the base-level Tradesman, and the Laramie Longhorn, Limited, SLT, Laramie, Power Wagon, Power Wagon, and the Big Horn/Lone Star. For options on body style, drivers can select from either Regular Cab (with long bed), Crew Cab (long or short bed), and Mega Cab (with short bed). Technology assists inside as well with the Uconnect touchscreen system with navigation/Bluetooth, and the 3.0-inch, 5.0-inch or 8.4-inch screen size will be dictated by both trim and package. Standard on all RAM 2500 models are one-touch up/down front windows (Crew Cab and Mega Cab only), variable/intermittent wipers, automatic headlamps, power windows, power door locks (available on Tradesman), and a 12-volt DC aux port.

Standard safety features include a tire pressure monitor (TPM) system, four-wheel antilock disc brakes, and to deter theft, a Sentry Key engine immobilizer. Standard across the trims are Ready Alert Braking, Hill-start Assist, Rain Brake Support, all-speed traction control, Brake Assist, electronic roll mitigation, electronic stability control (ESC), and trailer-sway control. Airbags find their way inside of course, and as standard, there are multistage front airbags, supplemental side-curtain airbags, and supplemental front seat side-mounted airbags. Ram has a strong history of titles to its credit and now has several of those held way ahead of any competition, like the "Longest-Lasting Line of Pickups" title! Possible for any trim is the DOT-certified Roadside Safety Kit which has 2 red vinyl flags, a DOT fire extinguisher, some spare fuses, and 3 reflecting triangles. An electronic trailer brake controller comes standard on all models minus the Tradesman.
