The Bandlands ORV Park, located in Attica, IN, is an 800 acre facility that offers off-roading fun for the whole family. There are tracks for everything from mild to wild: ATVs, dirt bikes, side x sides, 4x4 SUVs, and much more. As one of the largest off-roading facilities in the midwest, the Badlands offers riders the chance to travel through sand dunes, pea gravel hills, bottomless mud, the tightest off-chamber wood trails, extreme rock crawling, shear drop-offs, hood-deep waters, and stream crossings.
Single-day passes for the trail OR motocross start at $20 and increase by $10 each additional day. For the trail AND motocross tracks, single-day passes start at $30 and increase by $20 each additional day. ATVs and motorcycles, as well as helments are available to rent at the facility. They also offer an on-site restaurant, Jesses Hideout, and one of the largest Fox retail stores in the midwest.
This weekend marks the second annual Ultimate Motorsports Championship (UMC) held at the Badlands. The event, starting July 22nd, is free and open to all ages. There will be food vendors, a beer garden, a meet and greet with the competitors, live bands, and a firework show at the completion of the event. On Saturday, there will also be a Trail Race Endurance Circuit (TREC) race, a Midwest Cross Country race, and a World Extreme Rock Crawling competition.
Other events held at the Badlands include TREC races on August 13th, September 10th, and October 8th. On September 10th, the American Motocross Association holds their district 15 race.
The Tough Mudder event is schedule for November 19-20, 2011. This event attracts athletes from all over the world. Here is a description of the event from its website: "The Tough Mudder series is being launched because there is not an event in America that tests toughness, fitness, strength, stamina, and mental grit all in one place and all in one day. Sure, there are a few that will test these things - for thousands of dollars and a week of your life. But in one day in one location? We don't think so. Other summer sun and fun mud runs? Forget it - unless you want to run alongside your 60-year-old grandmother. Tough Mudder is a truly exceptional event for truly exceptional people. Fair weather runners should stay at home."
There are several Kokomo-area athletes that compete in this event every year. If this sounds like something you would be interested in, visit the Tough Mudder website: http://www.toughmudder.com
