2013 Dodge Dart preview, Car Connection, Jan. 9
Dodge is aiming the Dart at the middle of the compact-sedan market, which means it's positioned for everyone from first-time Millennial buyers and small families to busy commuters and empty-nest couples, The Car Connection said. The Dart looks beautifully detailed, with contrast-stitching, nicely bolstered seats, and soft-touch surfaces, the website said. The Dart is the first Dodge to use an active grille-shutter system, which stops airflow through the lower portion during warmup or at highway speeds, opening when more cooling is needed, the article said. Inside, the Dart has been designed to fit 'American-sized' occupants ? that is, a very wide range, the Car Connection said. Dodge will offer the Dart in a vast array of appearances and equipment combinations, including three engines, three transmissions, seven different wheel options, 12 exterior colors, and 14 interior color and trim combinations ? as well as more than 150 Mopar® options and packages, the article said.
2013 Dodge Dart, Edmunds Inside Line, Jan. 8
o If you want to sell cars to mainstream Americans, you need a credible entry in the compact car segment - and it looks as if Dodge may finally have one in the 2013 Dart, Edmunds Inside Line said. Looking at the Dodge Dart, it's obvious that style is going to be a huge part of its appeal, the website said. Company designers have applied styling elements from the rear-drive cars, including Charger-esque LED taillights, but nothing feels forced or cartoonish, the article said. Moreover, there's good reason to think the Dart will actually be pretty agreeable to drive, the article said. A ridiculous amount of feature content will be offered on the 2013 Dodge Dart, the article said.

    Pentastar V-6 returns to Ward's '10 Best Engines' list, Ward's, Jan 6
o The Pentastar returns to the Ward's 10 Best Engines list for the second year in a row after impressing editors in two disparate applications: Chrysler's flagship 300S sedan and Jeep® Wrangler SUV. Chrysler management years ago saw a need for a world-class, all-purpose V-6 that would be affordable, fuel-efficient, powerful, smooth and flexible enough to replace outdated engines across a broad swath of the auto maker's portfolio, Ward's said. Not to be overlooked is how the Pentastar transforms the drive experience in the Jeep Wrangler; its customer base should quickly recognize the huge step forward by replacing an outdated 3.8L V-6 with the grunty, trail-ready Pentastar, the article said. From pickups and Jeeps to minivans and flagship sedans, the Pentastar will drive Chrysler well into the future, Ward's said.
Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon: Trail toughness, city civility, KITSAP Peninsula Business Journal, Jan. 5
o People who understand and love Jeeps are crazy about the Jeep® Wrangler, the KITSAP Peninsula Business Journal in Washington state said. The 2012 Wrangler Unlimited does an excellent job of blending traditional super tough, go-anywhere Jeep attributes with modern technologies and conveniences, the Journal said. The tan leather interior was the most luxurious Wrangler cockpit we've ever encountered, the article said. The Wrangler Unlimited is an off-road champ, but the bigger surprise was how civilized the Wrangler was on the highway and around town, the Journal said. Its mountain goat features didn't compromise daily usefulness, and Jeep has managed to infuse the right amount of modern technology, safety, luxury, and convenience without diluting the rugged character and endless fun that define this iconic brand, the Journal said.
Charger SRT8® Super Bee: Back-to-basics muscle car is smoking hot, Motor Trend, February issue
o The Dodge Charger Super Bee package turns a fast luxo-cruiser into the knuckle-dragging beast it was always meant to be, Motor Trend said. The Super Bee foregoes the luxury hides for black cloth with yellow stripes as well as Super Bee logos embroidered on the seats, the magazine said. Other amenities have also been left for the standard SRT8 and contribute to the nearly 100-pound savings in the Super Bee, the article said. The Charger SRT8® Super Bee isn't for everyone; some buyers will still want the coddling and comforting supplied by the standard car, but for those who want the thrill of driving, take the Super Bee in Pitch Black and put the money saved into rear tires, the article said.

Dodge rolls out accessories for new Dart, Wall Street Journal, Jan. 10
o In its most intensive customer grab to date, Chrysler Group LLC's parts business Mopar® is already offering potential Dodge Dart buyers a selection of more than 150 different accessories to add some bling and zing to their ride, the Wall Street Journal said. This marks the first time Mopar has had an extensive menu of items coinciding with the public debut of a vehicle?the Dart, which was unveiled Monday at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, the Journal noted. Dart owners will have such choices as a carbon fiber scooped hood, chrome aluminum grille, 18-inch wheels, front chin spoiler ($199) and a chrome fuel door. Inside, there is a pedal kit which provides a bright finish to the gas and brake pedal and vehicle tracking system in case the car is stolen, the Journal said.
After 75 years, Mopar®, we have lift off, Consumer Reports, Jan. 10
o The current Dodge Charger, in all its V-8 glory, really looks like the real deal, Consumer Reports said. The car on display to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the company's Mopar® parts brand here in Detroit is the Dodge Charger Redline, stuffed full of upgrade parts from Mopar, all the way to a 590-hp V8 that isn't even street legal, the magazine said. Diving into the past? No doubt, but this one is packed with substance as well as style, the article said. The Charger Redline on display had an old-school lift-off hood, and just like the old street racers with their Dodge Super Bees and Plymouth Road Runners eager to show off a beautiful engine, the propped up hood afforded an amazing view of that sick V-8, the article said. It made me grin from ear to ear, the Journal writer said.

2013 Dodge Dart starts at $15,995, gets 40 mpg, Edmunds Inside Line, Jan. 9
o Reid Bigland, president and CEO of Dodge brand, brought out the key news the editors at Edmunds Inside Line were waiting to hear about the 2013 Dodge Dart. The Dart?a remarkably good-looking thing?will start at $15,995 and earn 40 mpg, Edmunds said. Bigland did mention some of the Dart's whiz-bang tech features like a downloadable smartphone app that offers its users remote starting and locking as well as handy parent/Big Brother functionality like GPS location service as well as speed and boundary notifications, the publication said. It's also got a 7-inch TFT gauge cluster and a class-leading 8.4-inch console screen for the navigation and audio system, the story said.
Wishing you and yours a very Happy New Year and all the best for 2012!
